Good evening
Is it possible to make the conversion from onewheel plus instead of xr? What are the differences? Thanks in advance. Best regards
Hi Miguel, yes it is possible! You use the XR frame, hub motor, the XR harness (Battery -> Controller) and the original battery from your onewheel plus. The ow plus can run without a BMS anyway. You can do the XR > VESC conversion without upgrading your battery either Onewheel XR or Plus. The main part is the VESC controller who don’t communicate with the BMS of your battery. So for discharge (riding) there is no protection of the cells. When charging it, the BMS will work. A bigger battery (that can match the GT or better) can be connected to the VESC – controller. But then you need the TORquebox (battery case) to fit it. You can also connect a CBXR, CBSP or JWXR.
What you can do with your old BMS?
They are three choices. Option one leave it as it is. Just connect the battery directly to the controller.
Here is video from surfdado which explain the BMS options or „dilemma“.
OneWheel XR VESC Conversion – BMS Dilemma
I got a ow plus too which will be converted in the near future. 🙂 I’ll Keep you updated!
Best Andy
Thanks for this page, it’s nice and organised!
Too bad that VESC-ing the board is not cheap and also not very repair-friendly atm cause some components needed are either not available (yet) or sold out. When something breaks (and it WILL) during exploring/testing phase it can be very hard to find a replacement part. This is also depending on the willingness of the part supplier. Some are simply awesome, others are „very difficult“ to contact;).
The VESC process is not for all riders. It requires finance, time, some skill and calmness. I hope standardization will come with time making the threshold more beginner friendly and hopefully lower the component prices some.
An indication on progress:
Last year when i built my 1st VESC-XR (Named EXODUS) it was a worthy alternative to XR but i would not have taken apart a healthy 4209 to build it. Moving away from FM was hopeful but not desired at this stage.
My current VESC-XR (Named „TUCO“, cause my other boards are AngelEyes and Blondie;) is a different kind and i actually would sacrifice an XR to build this kind of performance/feel. Love it! As soon as a good hub option comes it will be completely possible to live without FM. For now the Hypercore is a key ingredient.

Hi,
Is it possible to convert a Pint? Please say yes!
Thank you for pushing the envelope…
Hello
I am looking to see what the process is to be listed on your website as a resource? What is the fee if this is a possibility?
There is no fee if its VESC / Onewheel related. With what kind of service or product do you want to get listed on our site? Best Andy
